VPInstruments in the Netherlands is seeking a Medior Mechanical Design Engineer to develop the next generation of sensor technology for high‑precision instruments used in demanding industrial environments.
You will own the product from concept to production, collaborate with R&D, perform testing, and work with suppliers to industrialize designs. Fluency in English is required; Dutch is a plus. The role offers a hybrid Delft‑based setup with 32–40 hours per week.
Do you want to build innovative products that make a real impact? At VPInstruments, we develop state-of-the-art flow meter solutions for compressed air and industrial gases, empowering industries to measure and improve their energy efficiency. We are expanding and looking for a Medior Mechanical Design Engineer who combines a passion for mechanical innovation with strong technical expertise. You’ll work on high-precision instruments that operate in dynamic industrial environments.
VPInstruments mission is to make the world a better and more sustainable place by eliminating industrial energy waste. We do this by developing, producing, and supplying instrumentation and monitoring software for compressed air and technical gases. Our products can be found in many industrial production plants, for example glass production, food and beverage, automotive, pharmaceutical plants, all over the world. We thrive on innovation and with our R&D department we work on improving our products and designing new state-of-the-art products, which we manufacture ourselves.
As our Md Mechanical Design Engineer, your mission is to develop the next generation of our sensor technology, instruments that must be ultra-reliable, high performing, and ready for tough industrial environments.
In this role, you’ll work closely with our R&D team to develop mechanical designs from concept to production. You enjoy taking ownership of the full cycle of product development: from requirement engineering and early prototyping to detailed design, testing, and industrialization. You’ll turn complex technical challenges into elegant, manufacturable solutions.
Our flow meters are high precision tools, integrating mechanical, electronics and thermal components into compact sensor housing. You’ll design and evaluate new concepts, build and test prototypes to perform and document rigorous product testing (e.g. IP rating, CE, flow, pressure, thermal). You’ll interface with suppliers to ensure the best technical solution and meet specifications. Experience with or interest in fluid dynamics is a plus.
Besides new product development, you’ll also work on production engineering projects to further improve and scale up the production of all products. You enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with colleagues and external partners, while taking ownership and seeing problems through to successful solutions.
You’ll join an informal, close-knit company with a young and ambitious team of about 18 people. We like to challenge ourselves and be the best in what we do. We value growth and thereby invest in your personal development. Team spirit and personal contact with colleagues are important, therefore we have a 60-40% working-in-the-office and home-arrangement. We lunch together and you can expect regular team outings. We offer a competitive salary, 24 holidays + 4 ADV days, with the possibility to purchase extra holidays, full travel expense reimbursement, a solid pension plan, a contribution towards sports activities, and a company-wide profit-sharing scheme. We’re committed to fostering a positive, flexible, and growth-oriented work environment where you can thrive.
