Job summary

Urban Reef is seeking a hands-on mechanical engineering professional to own the development of our 3D printing process for bioreceptive structures. You will design, build, test and improve the hardware, electronics and control of the extruder mounted on our robot arm, working directly with the founder.

This on-site role runs five days a week from Rotterdam, with relocation to the Eindhoven area planned for 2027.

Qualifications

• Background in mechanical engineering, robotics or mechatronics (BSc/MSc or equivalent experience).
• Experience with designing and building electromechanical systems.
• Able to work independently on technical problems.
• Motivated to join an early-stage company and grow with it.
• Available to start on 1 January 2027 (or before).

Responsibilities

• Own the development of the printing process, hardware, electronics and control of the extruder.
• Design, build, test and improve, hands-on, in the workshop.
• Work directly with the founder and make technical decisions on the printing system.
