Job summary

Independent Recruiters is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to design and integrate precision instrumentation, including GC systems and sample handling. You will translate customer needs into robust mechanical and control solutions, using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) for layout and prototyping.

You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software and application engineering teams, participate in prototyping, testing and validation, and contribute to scalable architectures for challenging scientific

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Mechatronics or related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience in mechatronic system design and integration.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles with basic electronics knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks) for assemblies and system layout.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, heaters, and control components in precision instrumentation.
• Knowledge of control systems (e.g., PID tuning) and thermal/flow-driven applications.
• Experience with troubleshooting complex multi-disciplinary systems and root-cause analysis.
• Affinity with analytical instrumentation or high-precision systems is a strong advantage.
• Good communication skills in English for cross-functional work.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop integrated mechatronic solutions for analytical instruments (GC, GC×GC, GC-MS, Elemental Analyzers).
• Translate customer needs into innovative, detailed technical designs that drive instrument performance.
• Integrate sensors, heaters, valves, actuators, and control electronics for robust modules.
• Create and maintain precise 3D models in SolidWorks for layout and prototyping.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software and applications teams for seamless integration.
• Participate in prototyping, testing, validation, and root-cause analysis to resolve complex behaviors.
• Contribute to modular and scalable architectures to support customization.
• Drive continuous improvement for reliability, manufacturability and serviceability.
• Support production ramp-up with documentation and technical guidance.
