Job summary

Nouvall Engineering Services BV in the Netherlands is seeking a Mechanical Routing Engineer responsible for design and routing of piping, cable routes, and outfitting for complex mechanical systems, from early layouts to production-ready designs.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, coordinate with colleagues, develop detailed designs, and ensure safe, cost-effective outcomes. A degree in Mechanical Engineering and CAD experience are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or MBO Level 4 in Engineering.
  • Experience as a Mechanical Routing Engineer in maritime/offshore/heavy engineering preferred.
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD; AutoCAD and Inventor are advantageous.
  • Strong affinity with complex mechanical systems.
  • Analytical and structured working approach with ability to set priorities under time pressure.
  • Proactive, accurate, practical and solution-oriented; strong communication and English skills.

Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for the design and routing of piping systems, cable routes, access structures and outfitting for complex mechanical systems. You will work on technically challenging projects, from initial system layouts through to detailed engineering and production-ready designs.

Responsibilities
  • Design routing layouts for piping systems, cable routes, access structures and outfitting;
  • Position hydraulic and electrical components, including associated foundations and supports;
  • Develop system, basic and detailed designs for complex mechanical installations;
  • Define routing and layout priorities, including interfaces with E-rooms, hydraulic power units and other systems;
  • Determine the required level of design detail based on project scope and requirements;
  • Maintain an overview of the complete system and assess the impact of design choices across disciplines;
  • Coordinate proactively with engineering colleagues and other project stakeholders;
  • Deliver practical, safe and cost-effective designs;
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of innovative technical solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an MBO Level 4 qualification in Engineering;
  • Experience as a Mechanical Routing Engineer within the maritime, offshore or heavy engineering sector is preferred;
  • Motivated junior candidates with a strong interest in mechanical engineering are also encouraged to apply;
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD design software; knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor is an advantage;
  • Strong affinity with complex mechanical systems;
  • Analytical and structured working approach, with the ability to set priorities under time pressure;
  • Proactive, accurate, practical and solution-oriented;
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable working in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;
  • In possession of an EU passport or valid work permit for the Netherlands.
