Job summary

ASMPT is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a groundbreaking platform within our Advanced Packaging division. You will translate complex mechanical concepts into robust designs, using NX and Teamcenter, while collaborating with teams across Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Netherlands.

You will drive tolerance analyses, FEM simulations, and high-precision mechanics, contributing to prototypes, testing, and industrialization.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in mechanical design with strong fundamentals.
• 5+ years in high-tech machine development, preferably semiconductor.
• Proven ability to develop mechanical concepts from idea to realization.
• Strong communication and collaboration across technical domains.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical concepts, modules and components for high-precision systems from concept to release (NX).
• Translate requirements into robust mechanical designs ensuring performance, manufacturability, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Perform tolerance analyses and detailed dimensioning considering precision and assembly constraints.
• Conduct mechanical analyses and simulations (FEM, stiffness, thermal effects) to validate performance.
• Collaborate with system/mechatronics engineers and international teams (Singapore, Hong Kong) for system-level alignment.
• Contribute to definition and realization of mechanical subsystems, including prototypes.
• Support integration and testing of prototypes, perform root cause analysis and implement improvements.
• Participate in design reviews ensuring compliance with performance, quality, safety and cleanroom standards (ISO 3).
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams for DfM/DfA and industrialization.

Job description

For our Advanced Packaging team, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will work on something that does not yet exist: a completely new platform within our latest generation of Advanced Packaging machines. This is no development on an existing machine, but true pioneering. Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical concepts, modules, and components for high-precision systems, from initial concept through detailed design and release. All design work is done in NX and managed in Teamcenter.
• Translate functional and system requirements into robust mechanical designs, ensuring performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform tolerance analyses and detailed dimensioning, taking into account precision, thermal behaviour, and assembly constraints.
• Conduct mechanical analyses and simulations (e.g. FEM, stiffness, deformation, eigenfrequencies, thermal effects) to validate design performance.
• Collaborate closely with system engineers, mechatronics engineers, suppliers, and international teams (including Singapore and Hong Kong) to ensure alignment with system-level performance.
• Contribute to the definition and realization of mechanical subsystem concepts, including prototype design and implementation.
• Support integration and testing of prototypes and modules, perform root cause analysis, and implement design improvements.
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, safety, and cleanroom (e.g. ISO 3) requirements.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability and assembly (DfM/DfA) and support industrialization.
• Maintain structured technical documentation (drawings, specifications, change management) and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation, including support in patentable concepts where relevant.

THIS IS YOU

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Design; a PhD or PDEng in Mechanics is a plus.
• 5+ years of industry experience in high-tech machine development, ideally in the semiconductor industry.
• Proven expertise in developing and realizing mechanical concepts, ideally in the semiconductor industry.
• A multidisciplinary thinker with an open-minded approach, strong in communication and collaboration across various technical domains.
• A proactive mindset in overcoming challenges on conflicting demands of machine accuracy and machine throughput.
• Fluent in English; speaking Dutch is a plus.
