Job summary

EXP's St. John's Earth and Environmental group seeks a Materials Testing Technician/Technologist for its Mount Pearl lab and field projects in St. John’s and surrounding areas.

The role reports to the Practice Manager and involves executing laboratory and field testing, preparing reports and ensuring compliance with EXP’s QMS. Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering technician/technology diploma, CCIL familiarity is a plus, and willingness to travel Newfoundland and Labrador.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized technical college, or equivalent experience, and be eligible for registration with AETTNL.
• CCIL certification is an asset.
• Experience in materials laboratory and field testing and geotechnical settings (concrete, soils, asphalt testing, test pits and boreholes).
• Applies knowledge with CCIL, ASTM and CSA testing methodology and laboratory and field testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Executing laboratory materials testing (asphalts suites; concrete compressive strength testing; grain size analysis, proctors, etc.) and field inspection work as may be necessary.
• Preparing clear and concise laboratory testing and field inspection reports, and review, as necessary, laboratory and field inspection reports.
• Interacting with clients to provide excellent service and quick response to their testing needs.
• Working in compliance with various standards and specifications, including EXPs internal QMS system.
