Job summary

Talcom BV in Apeldoorn, Netherlands, seeks a Configuration Engineer to transform designs into working configurations for maritime safety solutions. You will set up operator-facing configurations, predefined sensor and tracking baselines, and validate through FAT/SAT with customer involvement.

You will turn operational procedures into concrete system settings, develop reusable templates, and drive tests to ensure requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, EE or related field or equivalent experience.
• Affinity for configuring and parameterizing complex software products.
• Experience with structured testing and reporting; ISTQB is a plus.
• Familiarity with config files and data formats like XML/JSON/YAML; basic scripting.
• Linux and networking knowledge to isolate issues before escalation.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Understanding of radar, AIS, and sensor data in traffic systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain the application configuration baseline per requirements.
• Apply and verify standard sensor and tracking settings from the baseline.
• Translate customer procedures into concrete system configuration.
• Design and execute functional test sets and verify system behavior.
• Prepare and execute FAT and SAT including customer validation; produce plans and reports.
• Own findings lifecycle from testing through acceptance; coordinate with teams.
• Serve as primary contact for customer staff on day-to-day configuration questions.
• Identify gaps between product behavior and customer expectations and escalate as needed.
• Provide reusable configuration templates and test sets; maintain knowledge base.
