Job summary

Wärtsilä in Hattem, the Netherlands, is seeking a Product Engineer to support multiple departments including Technical Identifications, Parts Sales, Purchasing, Pricing, Assembly & Testing, and Quality Inspection.

Qualifications

• MBO 4 / HBO in Marine Engineering or related technical field.
• 3–7 years of hands-on experience in a technical (maritime) or field service environment.
• Experience with spare parts sales or service is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and problem solving in technical spare parts requests.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work with SAP, MS Office and digital archives.
• Willingness to travel (planned trips, max 1–2 weeks per trip).

Responsibilities

• Manage SAP documents, requisitions, orders, reports and analyses in SAP, CRM and Product Dashboard.
• Identify correct spare parts numbers for non-listed/out-of-stock parts; maintain aftersales documentation.
• Handle administrative, commercial and organizational processing of spare parts sales orders from network offices, distributors and direct customers.
• Provide back-order availability updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure pricing, delivery time, payment terms, Incoterms and technical feasibility of orders; negotiate scope as needed.
• Initiate purchase orders; monitor delays and coordinate with suppliers to expedite orders.
• Execute pricing tasks aligned with strategic targets and conduct ad-hoc analyses to support pricing decisions.
• Assemble parts into component assemblies; provide measurement reports and initiate assembly orders; participate in FAT and document results.
• Inspect received goods against specifications and assess returns.
