Job summary

Tidalis in the Netherlands seeks a Platform Engineer to design, build, operate, and improve cloud infrastructure powering maritime solutions such as Vessel Traffic Services and PMIS. You will embed maritime domain knowledge and drive reliable, scalable platforms.

As you progress, you’ll own complex platform domains end-to-end, working with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, cost-aware, high-availability systems. Dutch and English fluency are essential; maritime knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript for platform tooling and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in cloud-native environments.
• Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with reliability engineering, SLOs/SLIs and incident management.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, written and spoken.
• Experience in maritime domain is a plus; willingness to acquire domain knowledge essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure and internal platforms for maritime solutions.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and self-service provisioning.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
• Implement observability with monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Design platforms for high availability, reliability, and performance.
• Embed security and compliance into platform services with IAM and secrets management.
• Monitor cloud spend and apply FinOps practices.
• Contribute to incident response and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering teams.
• Own platform services across their lifecycle and continuously improve reliability.
