Job description

Are you a technically minded professional who enjoys improving processes, working closely with production and turning ideas into practical solutions?

Would you like to join a family-owned company that is currently transforming its production environment from traditional machining to a more modern, automated and specialized operation?

Then this could be an exciting opportunity for you.

About the company

Our client is a family-owned manufacturing company specializing in the production of high-quality, precision-machined components for industries including medical technology and automotive.

The machining department works with both steel and aluminium, producing everything from single parts and prototypes to larger series.

The company is currently going through an important transition. Part of the existing series production will gradually be transferred to the company's production site in India. This will create increasing capacity at the Valkenswaard site for specialized machining, New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and further process development.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to play an important role in this transformation from the very beginning.

The role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will act as the link between engineering, work preparation, planning and production.

Your main objective is to ensure that new and existing products can be manufactured as efficiently, reliably and accurately as possible.

This is a broad and developing position with a lot of room for personal initiative. The exact scope of the role will partly depend on your knowledge, interests and ambitions.

1. Production process improvement

  • Ensure that production orders are technically correct and run smoothly through the factory.
  • Translate customer information, technical drawings and STEP files into clear production information.
  • Contribute to discussions around manufacturability, efficiency, quality and lead times.
  • Analyse existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with colleagues on the shop floor to implement improvements in practice.
  • Contribute ideas regarding new machines, tooling and production methods.

2. Work preparation

  • Support the preparation of production orders.
  • Ensure that the correct information is available in the ERP system, including rouings, bills of materials and lead times.
  • Support calculations, subcontracting activities and capacity planning.
  • Contribute to planning, material flows and priorities.
  • Ensure a smooth connection between engineering and production.
  • Introduce new products into the organisation and ensure they are industrialised effectively.
  • Translate designs into a manufacturable and efficient production process.
  • Coordinate with customers, engineering, production and quality.
  • Monitor quality, lead times and manufacturability.
  • Initiate improvements whenever a process can be made smarter, faster or more accurate.
  • Gradually take on more responsibility for coordinating NPI projects.

The company has strong ambitions when it comes to automation and digitalisation.

Within the group, for example, an AI model is currently being developed to intelligently connect files, documentation and information flows. There are also plans to use AI to analyse incoming customer emails and streamline administrative processes.

Human control will remain an important part of these processes, but the company is actively looking for employees who want to contribute ideas and help shape these developments.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will therefore have the opportunity to actively contribute to the modernisation of the production environment, including new machinery, tooling, automation and digital solutions.

Your profile

You do not need to have everything figured out from day one. The company is primarily looking for someone who is curious, technically minded and motivated to make things better.

  • You have a technical background and an affinity with metalworking and machining.
  • You nderstand what happens on a CNC machine and on the production floor.
  • You like to maintain an overview and bring structure to processes.
  • You are not afraid to question existing processes and ways of working.
  • You think independently and take initiative.
  • You can easily switch between the office and the shop floor.
  • You enjoy working with colleagues from different disciplines.
  • You are eager to learn and develop yourself further.
  • Experience in machining or manufacturing is certainly an advantage, but many years of experience are not a requirement.
  • An ambitious recent graduate or someone with a few years of experience in machining can also be a strong fit for this position, provided they have the right technical foundation and mindset.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is an advantage, although extensive drawing work is not the main focus of the role. Customers generally provide STEP files, which are then translated into production requirements by the internal engineering team.

What we offer

  • A full-time position in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, with a Dutch employment contract.
  • A varied and developing role with a high degree of personal responsibility and input.
  • The opportunity to grow towards NPI, process engineering and project coordination.
  • Direct influence on the modernisation of the production environment.
  • The opportunity to work with new machinery, tooling and automation.
  • An informal working environment with short communication lines and a hands-on, no-nonsense mentality.
  • A close-knit team where people work hard but also make room for humour.
  • A day-shift position with flexible working hours.
