Job summary

Fintech Confidential is establishing a new regulated investment business in the Netherlands and seeks a senior leader to oversee licensing, setup and growth across Europe. Job description

We are a digital brokerage with an established presence across multiple international markets.

As part of our next phase of expansion, we are establishing a new regulated investment business in the Netherlands and are looking for a senior leader to take it from licensing and setup through to launch and growth.

The Role

As Managing Director, Europe, you will play a critical role in establishing the European business, working closely with regulators, the Board, legal and external advisors throughout the licensing process. Once licensed, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the European business, building the local organization, establishing a strong governance and compliance framework, and driving commercial growth across Europe.

What You'll Do:

Regulatory & Licensing

• Lead the European investment firm licensing process and act as a senior point of contact with the relevant Dutch regulator
• Own the Business Plan, governance framework and key policies supporting the licensing application
• Work closely with legal, compliance and external advisors to ensure the proposed entity structure, capital plan and control functions meet regulatory expectations
• Lead regulatory interviews, information requests and ongoing supervisory engagement
• Establish the governance and control framework required for the business to operate effectively from day one

Business & Operations

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the European brokerage, custody and advisory business
• Build and lead the local organization across Compliance/MLRO, Risk, Finance, Operations and other key functions
• Establish and maintain a strong compliance-first culture
• Ensure appropriate controls are in place for capital, liquidity, client assets, client money, risk management and operational resilience
• Oversee key outsourcing and third-party relationships, including custodians, technology providers and group service providers
• Report to the Board and global leadership team on business performance, risk, compliance and strategic priorities

European Growth

• Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the Dutch market and broader European expansion
• Work closely with Product, Technology, Marketing and Operations teams to localize and scale the platform for European investors
• Identify opportunities to expand into additional European markets
• Build strategic partnerships and strengthen the company's presence within the European investment ecosystem
• Shape the long-term strategy, organization and operating model for the European business

What We're Looking For

• Senior leadership experience in a regulated financial services business, ideally digital brokerage, securities, investment services, custody, wealth management or a comparable MiFID-regulated environment
• Typically 10+ years of relevant financial services experience, including significant leadership or senior management responsibility
• Strong working knowledge of MiFID II, Wft, client asset/client money safeguarding and AML/CTF requirements
• Experience engaging directly with financial regulators and/or leading a licensing or authorization process is highly preferred
• Proven ability to build teams, governance frameworks and operating infrastructure from the ground up
• Strong commercial judgment combined with a hands‑on approach to execution
• A clean regulatory and legal record
• Fluent English required; Dutch language skills are a strong advantage
• Comfortable operating in a fast‑moving, international and entrepreneurial environment
