Job summary

NRL is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead commercial management for a landmark Life Sciences development in Leiden, NL. The role focuses on cost control, contract administration and procurement oversight within a large-scale, international project team.

The position is on-site in Leiden, offering long-term stability and a competitive benefits package. Ideal candidates bring extensive experience with major design and construction programmes and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or similar.
• Proven experience in commercial management of large-scale design and construction projects.
• Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC forms of contract.
• Strong negotiation, financial management and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; full right to work in the Netherlands (EU citizen or eligible).

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management activities across the full project lifecycle.
• Administer and manage construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
• Monitor budgets, project forecasts and financial performance metrics.
• Oversee change management processes, managing variations and claims.
• Provide commercial guidance to senior stakeholders and project leadership.
• Support procurement activities including tendering, bid evaluation and negotiation.
• Review and authorise contractor submissions, payment applications and final accounts.
