KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is seeking an experienced Engine Mechanic in Schiphol. You will disassemble engines, inspect components, determine replacements, consult specialists when needed, and prepare units for shipment.
You will also supervise new colleagues, sharing your expertise to help them work independently as quickly as possible. You will test for internal damage, work with several engine types, and uphold safety and regulatory standards.
When a damaged aircraft engine arrives at the Engine Shop, you assess its condition. You disassemble the engine and inspect all individual components. What needs to be replaced, and what materials are required? If necessary, you consult with a specialist. After the repair, you check whether everything has been delivered according to module and prepare the repaired engine for shipment. Additionally, you will supervise new colleagues: teaching them and ensuring they can work independently as quickly as possible.
In addition:
You'll be part of Engine Services, a division of Engineering & Maintenance (E&M). Here, we not only maintain our own aircraft but also those of customers worldwide. You'll work in the Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) department, as part of a team of around twenty colleagues. You will work in shifts: one week of day shifts and one week of evening shifts. Our department increasingly uses digital tools that help us work smarter and faster.
Spending the entire day working on large and small parts? That's right up your alley. In fact, you enjoy it: you're a real techie and love working with your hands. You work quickly but precisely, always spotting potential errors immediately. You also have a strong sense of responsibility and find it important that you and your team can work safely. You don't hesitate to address colleagues if they don't follow the regulations. Additionally, you enjoy sharing your experience with junior engine mechanics and helping them find their way in the department.
Furthermore:
To perform this role, you will need a Schiphol pass that gives you access to the secure area at Schiphol-East. This may be a grey pass, or an orange pass with a black border. If necessary, we will apply for this on your behalf. If this pass is not issued to you, for whatever reason, you will not be able to start in this position.
A file check (for ex-KLM-employees) and/or a reference check can be part of the application procedure. By applying for this vacancy you consent to these checks.
