Job description

Inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals

with your expertise in business and finance

Hospitality is changing rapidly. Sustainability, technology, data-driven decision-making and new business models are transforming the industry. As a lecturer business administration, you help students understand these developments in a financial context and prepare them to become confident, business-savvy hospitality professionals. Your expertise will directly influence the next generation of leaders in an international industry.

About the position

As a lecturer business administration, you will provide classes in both Dutch and English in the field of financial management, management accounting, business control and other related courses. The emphasis of the vacancy lies on courses as 'management accounting', 'performance management' and 'financial management'. You will guide your students through these courses. In the first year of our curriculum, you will teach students the foundation of these business courses in one of our classrooms. Later on, you will take an expert role in coaching and will supervise a variety of projects from a business perspective. You will be part of the team of finance & accounting lecturers.

Our team and work environment at the Hotel Management School Maastricht

At Hotel Management School Maastricht, we are preparing our students to be international game changers - people who not just understand the industry but who shape it, prepared to take initiative, work together, and keep learning. We are creating a vibrant, inclusive campus that connects people and ideas - a core value since 1950. Our ambition is clear: to be the pioneering community in responsible hospitality, built on a rich legacy. A place where students, staff, alumni and industry come together to shape the future of our industry.

We are not just educating professionals. We are educating leaders - people who dare to think differently, take responsibility and connect with others.

This said, we can't do this alone. Our strength lies in our community, our students, who bring energy and ideas, our staff, who inspire, guide, and support them, our alumni, who stay connected and give back, and our partners, who open doors and share their knowledge.

The team and the working environment

The team of lecturers consists of professionals from a different background. Some specifically originate from the hotel industry, others have financial backgrounds out of other industries, some are educational experts. The team is united in the strong ambition to prepare young talent for the international world of hospitality, now and in the future. Together, the curriculum is constantly updated, with strong support from industry professionals. As a lecturer, you play a vital role to be the linking pin between students, alumni and other persons from the workfield.

What we are looking for?
  • You are a professional in the field of finance, accountancy, controlling or a related field who brings a positive mindset to our students. Experience in the (international) hospitality industry is a plus.

  • You believe in the power of education and actively contribute to its continuous development. Small-scale and intensive learning environments suit you. You enjoy working closely with students, coaching them in their professional and personal growth, and holding them to high standards.

  • You operate comfortably in an international and intercultural context and are able to teach in both Dutch and English at near-native level.

  • You hold a master's degree in business or a related field, or are willing to obtain one within the first two years of employment.

What we offer:
  • This is a vacancy for 0,4 - 0,6 FTE.

  • The salary is a maximum of scale 11 according to the collective labour agreement for universities of applied sciences (cao-hbo). This corresponds to a minimum of € 4.427,64 and a maximum of € 6.677,44 gross per month based on a full-time appointment.

  • Holiday allowance of 8% and end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

  • Professionalisation and sustainable career deployment hours and a comprehensive vitality offer.

  • The starting date is preferably January 2027.

Deadline: September 14, 2026
