Job summary

GKN Fokker Aerospace in Hoogeveen is seeking a Principal Engineer - Design Architecture & Simulation to lead system architecture and modelling for autonomous unmanned aircraft, contributing from concept to production in a cross-disciplinary, international setting.

You will work with a 10–15 engineer team, collaborate across aerodynamics, propulsion, software, and mission systems, and travel ~15% to strengthen partnerships within GKN's global network while ensuring compliance with airworthiness

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
Experience in design architecture, modelling, and simulation within aerospace/defence or related sectors.
Strong Systems Engineering principles and methodologies.
Experience with modelling/simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, Star-CCM+, Comsol, Simscape, Amesim.

Responsibilities

Lead system architecture & concept development for autonomous and unmanned systems.
Drive modelling & simulation excellence across behaviour, performance, and mission models.
Apply systems engineering principles across the development lifecycle including verification.
Collaborate with aerodynamics, propulsion, software, electronics, guidance and control, and mission systems teams.
