Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Lead Engineer for Thrusters in Drunen, The Netherlands. You will lead development projects across our thruster portfolio, coordinating with engineers and partners worldwide to deliver innovative propulsion solutions.

You will define plans, manage budgets, and supervise design work, calculations and tests while ensuring quality, safety and compliance. English communication and teamwork across disciplines are essential.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or related field.
Experience leading product development projects in an international matrix.
Strong design and analytical capabilities with attention to detail.
Excellent English communication and collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities

Lead product development projects for thrusters, improving existing products or developing new ones.
Define project plans, timelines and budgets with allocated teams.
Manage design work, calculations, simulations, drawings, and production readiness.
Collaborate with mechanical engineers, technical experts, and cross-site partners.
Oversee design reviews and ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Transfer knowledge and mentor team members; contribute to the knowledge base.
Report findings to project teams and stakeholders; provide technical support during delivery.
Stay updated on propulsion industry developments and engineering trends.
