Job summary

TNO is seeking a Scientist in Underwater Communications in the Netherlands to work on autonomous underwater systems and underwater networks. You will contribute to innovations for Defence & Security and collaborate with international teams and clients, including government bodies.

The role combines experimental design, simulations, and field testing, with a strong emphasis on algorithm development and technical communication in English.

Qualifications

• PhD and/or MSc in electrical engineering or computer science.
• Affinity with telecommunications and signal processing, including algorithm development.

Responsibilities

• Improve algorithms for acoustic and optical underwater communications.
• Research networked underwater nodes and drones communications.
• Design, set up and run experiments, simulations and sea trials.
• Report and present results to Defence, peers and colleagues.
