Job summary

Lonza is seeking a Senior Scientist Neuroscience in Oss to direct R&D on bioconjugates for BBB crossing. You will integrate neuroscience, protein engineering, and biochemistry to advance CNS delivery technologies, while mentoring a small team and coordinating external collaborations.

The role emphasizes hands-on experimental work, strategic direction, IP preparation, and budget stewardship within a dynamic, inclusive Lonza environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Neuroscience or Protein Engineering is required.
• 5-10 years of neuroscience experience.
• Knowledgeable in neuroscience, neurodegeneration, pharmacology or related field.
• Experience with brain-targeting modalities (bispecific mAbs, shuttles).
• Experience with BBB models and endothelial biology.
• Familiar with CNS drug delivery challenges and readouts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and data presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate transcytosis mechanisms for BBB crossing.
• Propose strategies in complex bioconjugations and guide team.
• Plan and coordinate in vitro/in vivo BBB evaluation studies.
• Lead projects with 200-500k Euro budgets and manage stakeholders.
• Maintain rigorous experimental documentation and IP-related contributions.
• Prepare materials for governance meetings and scientific publications.
• Supervise and develop 2-4 direct reports.
• Foster external collaborations with CROs and academia.
• Communicate strategic implications to management.
