Job description

About ZooStation

ZooStation is specialized in finding the best IT developers in Europe.

  • Our customer companies introducing developers for permanent or freelance positions;
  • Ourselves to create a Champions League team of international developers delivering the best software to our customers.

We have a background in IT; understand what's important and do technical assessment before any introduction and we are NEN-4400-1 certified.

Position

About YourExpats

YourExpats is building a new technology platform that makes international employment, immigration and workforce compliance significantly easier for companies and their international employees.

We combine smart software, automation and specialist knowledge to simplify processes that are traditionally complex, manual and fragmented.

We are a small and ambitious team, which means you will not become one developer among dozens of others. You will have a direct influence on the product, technology choices and the experience we create for our customers.

We are looking for an experiencedLead Frontend Developer who wants to help us take our platform to the next level.

The role

As Lead Frontend Developer, you will take ownership of the frontend of the YourExpats platform.

You will work closely with our backend developers and the founders to turn complex workflows into simple, intuitive and professional user experiences.

This is not a role where you simply receive finished designs and convert them into code. We are looking for someone who actively thinks about how a feature should work, how users should interact with it and how the product can become easier and better.

You should therefore combine strong frontend engineering skills with a genuine interest inUX, product design and usability.

What you will do

  • Take technical ownership of our frontend architecture and development.

  • Build and further develop our platform using React and TypeScript.

  • Design reusable, scalable and maintainable frontend components.

  • Integrate the frontend with backend services and REST APIs.

  • Translate business requirements and complex workflows into intuitive user interfaces.

  • Improve the overall UX and consistency of the platform.

  • Think critically about user journeys, interactions, layouts and information architecture.

  • Work closely with backend developers on API design and implementation.

  • Review code and establish frontend development standards and best practices.

  • Improve frontend performance, reliability and maintainability.

  • Help determine technical and product priorities.

  • Turn ideas and prototypes into production‑ready functionality.

  • Continuously look for opportunities to make the platform simpler, faster and more user‑friendly.

  • Strong view and willingness to use AI in a structured way with guardrails

Your qualification

You have strong professional experience developing modern web applications and are comfortable taking responsibility for the frontend of a growing SaaS platform.

Ideally, you have:

  • Extensive professional experience with React. (>3 years at least)

  • Strong experience with TypeScript.

  • Solid knowledge of modern JavaScript, HTML and CSS.

  • Experience building applications that interact heavily with APIs.

  • Experience structuring larger frontend applications and reusable component libraries.

  • A strong understanding of responsive web development.

  • Experience with state management and modern frontend architecture.

  • Good understanding of authentication, authorization and frontend security principles.

  • Experience working with Git and modern development workflows.

  • An eye for detail and a strong sense of UX and visual design.

  • The ability to work independently and make pragmatic technical decisions.

  • The confidence to challenge requirements when you see a better solution.

  • Good communication skills in English.

What makes you especially interesting to us

You do not have to be a professional UX designer, but you should be the type of developer who immediately notices when:

  • a workflow contains unnecessary steps;

  • a screen feels confusing;

  • information hierarchy could be improved;

  • a form can be made considerably easier to use;

  • a design looks inconsistent;

  • or a technically correct solution simply does not provide a good user experience.

You enjoy solving these problems rather than waiting for someone else to specify every detail.

Experience withNext.js, design systems, Figma, automated testing, CI/CD or SaaS platformsis a plus.

The type of person we are looking for

Because we are a small team, personality and working style are important.

You are likely to enjoy this role if you:

  • like ownership rather than narrowly defined tasks;

  • enjoy building products from an early stage;

  • prefer short communication lines and quick decision‑making;

  • can move between technical detail and the bigger product picture;

  • are pragmatic and know when something should be perfect and when it simply needs to work well;

  • enjoy experimenting with new technologies and AI‑assisted development;

  • want your work to have a visible impact on customers and the company.

What we offer
  • A leading role in the FE development of a unique new technology platform.

  • Significant influence over frontend architecture, UX and product development.

  • The opportunity to build rather than maintain a large legacy environment.

  • A small team with direct communication and little bureaucracy.

  • A hybrid working model: partly from our office in The Hague and partly from home.

  • Flexibility and a high level of autonomy.

  • An international working environment.

  • The opportunity to grow together with the company and the platform.

International candidates are very welcome. You should, however, be able and willing to work from our office in The Hague on a regular basis.
