Schoolyear is an Edtech, fast-growing, bootstrapped start‑up based in the Netherlands.

Our team’s mission is to make digital education about education again, not about getting the software to work. Our platform reduces all the complex logistics of digital exams to a matter of clicking a few buttons. Our platform helps to secure Digital Assessments (exams) on Private Devices (Bring Your Own Device), without sacrificing the Privacy of the student.

YOUR CHALLENGES

As one of the key members of our early‑stage development team (6 people), you design, implement and operate whatever happens when a user clicks that button. Providing an automagical experience in high‑stake exam situations to thousands of teachers and students every day is the most challenging and rewarding part of this role. This allows you to expand your work experience from day‑to‑day code development to the full range of challenges that come with running a SaaS product. You are not only responsible for developing the code, but also for designing the process in which the software is developed, shipped, and operated.

Our stack: Typescript, Vue.js (v3), Primevue (UI library), Vite as builder, AWS cloudfront & S3 for hosting, Cypress for e2e and vitest for unit testing, Pinia for state management.

Qualifications

WHO ARE YOU?

• You have 3+ years of Frontend development experience.
• You prefer building products over building complex systems. We are a very pragmatic development team. You rather work on a feature (vertical) than specialize in the frontend.
• You have a strong computer science foundation.
• Professional experience with SPA frameworks (we use Vue).
• Ability to work with full development cycle (requirements, arch, doc, code, debug, tests, integration, deployment).
• Product thinking, a clear understanding of the business values.
• Ability to excel in a constantly changing and rapidly growing workplace.
• You possess good written and oral English communication skills.
• You live in or near CEST (Europe/Amsterdam) zone.
