Job summary

IQVIA's Patient Finder is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to drive the data platform's design and delivery, including pipelines and data warehouse layers. You will mentor engineers, define patterns, and deliver improvements while balancing reliability and quality across complex data flows.

Based in Europe, preferably within commuting distance of Amsterdam, Netherlands, you will collaborate with Product, Engineering and ML leads across cross-functional squads to build scalable, secure analytics

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Python development experience.
• Proven experience building ETL/ELT data pipelines with orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with dbt for data transformation and testing.
• Experience with Databricks and large-scale data pipelines.
• Advanced SQL skills in SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Experience building cloud-based data platforms and data warehouses.
• Experience leading development teams or providing architectural guidance.
• Ability to make independent architecture decisions balancing scalability and business needs.
• Knowledge of data quality, lineage, observability, governance, and performance.
• Experience with automation and AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
• Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of the data platform (pipelines + warehouse).
• Standardise patterns and reduce operational overhead across the data landscape.
• Ensure release planning, validation strategies, risk management and clear tech comm.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to refine requirements and backlogs.
• Raise engineering standards through reviews, testing and refactoring with controls.
• Collaborate with QA to increase test maturity, coverage, and automation.
• Lead the data engineering team and mentor engineers on prioritisation.
