Job summary

DeWarmte is seeking a Lead Controls & Data Engineer to own the control software and the data platform behind our heat pumps. This role is hands-on and leadership‑oriented, combining coding with team-building and external collaboration.

You will inherit existing systems, diagnose real‑world behaviour, improve reliability and evolve architecture. You will recruit, mentor engineers and establish durable, shared ownership across the stack.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems.
• Experience developing control or embedded software for physical products or connected devices.
• Track record of taking functionality through design, implementation, testing and real-world operation.
• Ability to reason across software, hardware and physical-system behaviour.
• Experience with telemetry, time-series data, data pipelines or connected-device platforms.
• Solid engineering fundamentals: version control, automated testing, observability and incident resolution.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve our control software and expand automated testing and release practices.
• Build and lead our product data platform, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Recruit, mentor and develop a small, capable controls and data team.
• Collaborate across hardware, software, data, product development and services.
