Job summary

DEME is seeking a motivated design engineer to strengthen the cable systems design team. You will lead the cable design aspects across offshore wind projects and tenders, collaborating with international teams to deliver complex subsea cable solutions.

The role requires a Master’s degree in electrical engineering, at least 2 years in offshore or subsea cable projects, and strong English communication. DEME offers a mobility program and a clear training track for growth.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in offshore wind, subsea cables, power transmission or electrical infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of HVAC and/or HVDC cable systems is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with offshore electrical infrastructure, cable design principles and industry standards.
• Experience working with suppliers, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured engineering mindset.
• Comfortable working in an international project environment and interacting with various stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel internationally and occasionally support offshore activities.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• A proactive team player who combines ownership, collaboration and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering activities for offshore wind, inter-array, export and interconnector cable systems.
• Provide technical support throughout project execution and tender activities.
• Review and verify cable system designs, calculations and supplier deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards (IEC, ISO, DNV, CIGRE).
• Support cable ampacity studies, short-circuit assessments and electrical system evaluations.
• Verify cable type testing, qualification programmes and certification requirements.
• Contribute to technical risk assessments and cost optimization opportunities.
• Support clarifications during tender phases and input for estimates and schedules.
• Assist manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
• Participate in FATs, mock-ups and offshore testing campaigns.
• Perform site visits and offshore assignments to support troubleshooting.
• Contribute to HAZID/HAZOP and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with DEME's QHSES standards and safety culture.
