Job summary

Dow Jones Eco-Movement in the Netherlands seeks a Lead Software Engineer to design, test, and build features for a global EV charging data platform, primarily in Go with PHP familiarity. You will help transition core services from PHP to Go and uphold data integrity across an OCPI-based API powering 1.5M connectors.

The team emphasizes ownership, high-quality code, and improving architecture, security, and performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on Go or PHP (Laravel) development.
• Strong technical capability with Google Cloud Platform, MySQL, Postgres, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience with testing, and a passion for code maintainability and readability.
• Experience with PHP is a nice-to-have, as we are transitioning away from it.
• Familiarity with Gitlab-CI is a nice-to-have.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild critical components of our systems for the future, transitioning our foundational backend services from PHP to Go, and ensure the integrity, performance, and security of data powering over 1.5 million EV connectors worldwide.
• Upgrade, optimize internal tools to improve data validation workflows and deliver clean, readable, and highly maintainable code with ownership.
• Proactively identify and propose opportunities to improve the product, architecture, systems (performance, scalability, security, etc.) and help shape the technical roadmap with the product manager.
