Job description

As a Language Producer, you will help ensure that members experience the highest quality localized assets, preserving creative intent and enhancing the localized experience for viewers everywhere. With Netflix’s global reach and evolving entertainment footprint, world-class localization support for new languages and content genres is essential to success, making this an exciting time to join the company.

This will be a 12-month FTC.

The Role

The Language Producer is an advocate for language quality, creative consistency, and cultural authenticity across localized Netflix content in their assigned language(s). This role oversees the end-to-end creative and linguistic aspects of dubbing, subtitling, main/episodic titles, accessibility, and marketing assets, serving as a key point of contact for language-specific localization efforts.

Approximately 40% of the role is dedicated to direct title and project coverage—supporting long-form project progress, creative strategy and quality review, and the launch of localized assets—while the remaining 60% focuses on strategic market and talent development, including workflow innovation, vendor management, and building a robust talent pipeline. This is in support and collaboration with Content Localization Title Producers.

The Language Producer partners with internal teams and external talent to deliver high-quality, culturally relevant content. By monitoring language trends and maintaining deep market awareness, this role supports making sure every Netflix story resonates authentically with local audiences and upholds high standards of creative excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain creative and quality standards and guidelines for localized content in your assigned language(s), supporting consistency across dubbing, subtitling, main/episodic titles, accessibility, and marketing assets.
  • Develop and implement language strategies that prioritize localization efforts based on business impact and creative requirements.
  • Monitor language performance metrics and emerging linguistic trends, and proactively identify and address quality or consistency opportunities.
  • Partner with Content Localization Title Producers, Product Localization, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to align on localization strategy, execution, and creative direction for your language(s).
  • Represent language-specific needs and perspectives in cross-team initiatives, integration projects, and support for emerging media types.
  • Support clear and effective communication between local language teams and global stakeholders, balancing local nuance and global consistency.
  • Contribute to the consolidation and strategic assignment of vendors at the language level to support efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Global Resource Management to evaluate, refine, and implement vendor strategies and resource allocation for your language(s).
  • Oversee the selection, onboarding, and ongoing collaboration with language-specific resources to help maintain a strong, reliable talent pipeline.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local dubbing and subtitling talent, studios, and industry communities to support creative excellence and market relevance.
  • Maintain and regularly update a working database of language talent in partnership with vendors, with an understanding of performance and areas of specialization.
  • Monitor union, guild, and competitor activity to anticipate market shifts and inform strategy in talent engagement.
  • Serve as a local Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Netflix tooling and workflows, providing guidance to vendors on adoption, troubleshooting, and practices that support operational excellence.
  • Support the adoption of new workflows, automation, and technology to streamline localization processes and enable the localization of emerging media types (e.g., interactive, live, podcasts).
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives to enhance quality at scale, support timely project delivery, and maintain business continuity across content types and workflows.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and the sharing of practices within the local industry.
  • Help ensure that localization strategies and talent pipelines reflect both the nuances of local audiences and the broader goals of global consistency and representation.
Requirements
  • 5 or more years of experience in content localization, dubbing, subtitling, or international versioning for premium TV/film services.
  • Experience working with either subtitling or dubbing workflows, with an interest in language quality and cultural nuance.
  • Ability to work in an environment with multiple concurrent projects at different stages of production (from development through delivery).
  • Linguistic expertise and previous localization experience in your local market language(s).
  • Understanding of localization workflows, tools, and practices, with experience delivering high-quality language assets at scale.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills; able to work effectively in collaboration with creative, operational, and technical teams.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and identify when to escalate issues.
  • Ability to work with data and insights to identify root causes, optimize processes, and support operational excellence.
  • Comfortable working with change and ambiguity, and able to adapt to evolving priorities and new challenges.
  • Interest in creative storytelling, regional authenticity, and delivering an exceptional member experience.
  • Experience with accessibility standards (SDH, Audio Description) and emerging media formats is beneficial.
  • Fluent English and Dutch are required. Proficiency in one or more Nordic languages is a strong plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, in line with business requirements.
