Job summary

Jumbo Maritime in Schiedam, Netherlands is seeking a Junior Technical Superintendent to join the Fleet Management department. This 1 FTE role is an entry point for engineers to develop into a Technical Superintendent, with onboarding and learning trajectory around vessels, maintenance, budgeting, surveys, and drydock preparation.

You will support the technical management of several Jumbo Heavy Lift vessels, assist project teams, handle vessel certification, and gain hands‑on experience in

Qualifications

• Technical Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
• 1–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in shipping or offshore.
• Affinity with vessel maintenance and maritime operations.
• Fully conversant in English (verbal and written).
• Willing to travel and spend time abroad.
• Willingness to work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Support the technical management of assigned vessels in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to vessels under the guidance of senior colleagues.
• Support project teams in preparing mobilizations and projects for Jumbo Shipping and/or Jumbo Offshore and assist during project execution.
• Assist in the preparation, organization and follow-up of ship dry‑docking activities.
• Support vessel inspections, surveys, repairs and coordination with Class and Flag State.
• Help monitor and maintain vessel certification and statutory documentation.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets for assigned vessels.
• Support the purchasing process for spare parts, stores and technical services in a correct and cost‑effective manner.
