Job summary

Heerema Marine Contractors is seeking a Junior Technical Superintendent Tugs & Barges to support maintenance and technical activities across our fleet. You will work under experienced superintendents, gaining hands-on experience in vessel maintenance, inspections and documentation.

Based in Leiden or Vlissingen with regular vessel visits, you will develop into a Technical Superintendent, taking on more responsibility and coordinating with vessel crews, yards, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
• Some relevant technical experience, preferably within a maritime, offshore or industrial environment.
• A good technical foundation and strong interest in vessel maintenance, repairs and mechanical systems.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• Flexibility to travel to vessels, shipyards and other locations when required.

Responsibilities

• Support the coordination and supervision of repair, maintenance and technical activities for tugs, barges and project-specific equipment.
• Assist experienced Technical Superintendents with maintenance planning, technical inspections and classification requirements.
• Help identify technical issues and risks, and contribute to practical solutions.
• Work closely with internal teams, vessel crews, shipyards and suppliers to support daily technical operations.
• Assist with technical documentation, maintenance reports and follow-up actions.
• Participate in vessel visits, inspections and repair activities to gain practical experience.
• Gradually take ownership of smaller technical tasks under the guidance of a Medior or Senior Technical Superintendent.
