For a leading financial organization in the Netherlands, we are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join the Core Team.

Within this environment, engineers work on reliable software, modern cloud solutions, and technical platforms that support the organization's day-to-day services. You do not need to know every technology used within the organization. We are primarily looking for someone with a solid technical foundation, strong problem-solving skills, and the curiosity and motivation to learn.

About the role

As a Junior Software Engineer within the Core Team, you will contribute to the development, improvement, and maintenance of reliable software solutions in a modern Azure environment.

You will work closely with experienced software engineers and other technical colleagues. During your onboarding, you will receive guidance while getting familiar with the systems, processes, and technology landscape. As you develop your skills and confidence, you will gradually take on more responsibility.

The role has a strong software engineering foundation, with exposure to data and cloud technologies. You do not need to be an experienced Data Engineer or Azure specialist. A solid programming foundation and the ability to approach problems analytically are more important.

What will you do?

As a Junior Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and improving software within the Core Team;
• Investigating and resolving technical issues and bugs;
• Writing clear, maintainable, and well-tested code;
• Working with Python and object-oriented programming;
• Contributing to software design and technical solutions;
• Writing and maintaining automated tests;
• Working with pull requests and participating in code reviews;
• Investigating technical problems using documentation, debugging tools, and other resources;
• Contributing to reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software;
• Working with data and cloud technologies within the Azure environment;
• Collaborating with Development, Operations, and Support teams;
• Using AI-assisted development tools to explore solutions, develop and improve code, create tests, and investigate issues — while critically reviewing and understanding the generated output.

Technology & working environment

You will work in a modern engineering environment using a range of software, cloud, and data technologies.

Depending on your responsibilities, you may work with technologies such as:

• Python
• SQL

You are not expected to have experience with all of these technologies.

Direct experience with Databricks is preferred but not required. Experience with another programming language can also provide a strong foundation for learning Python.
