Job description

As a Junior QC Inspector, you'll be safeguarding the quality of our monopiles. In this challenging role, you directly contribute to the energy transition and sustainability across Europe.

QC Inspector. What will you do?

As a QC Inspector at Sif, you'll conduct quality inspections on products and processes according to planning, instructions, and procedures. You'll perform various measurements, both manually and using measuring equipment. Daily tasks include visual and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) inspections of welds. Based on these inspections, you'll generate measurement reports and communicate them to operations. These reports are typically prepared using Excel or Word, although you'll often utilize specific measurement software such as Polyworks and V stars. You'll ensure that products meet the correct quality standards as per customer requirements and provide advisory support on quality requirements and inspection capabilities. Within the Quality Control team, you'll work (in a team) in a highly independent manner, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to make responsible decisions.

Your responsibilities;
  • Performing various measurements and inspections during production and final measurements, manually or using advanced measuring equipment (such as total station, photogrammetry, or easy laser).
  • Ensuring the correct application of established procedures and instructions, addressing employees who fail to comply with procedures and requirements. You have the authority and obligation to halt work and report directly to the responsible Production Team Leader.
  • Advising the Production Team Leader on the correct application of procedures and improvements in the production process to prevent quality deviations.
  • Checking deviations in processes and measurements and assessing possible causes.
  • Initiating corrective and preventive actions to foster a learning organization—one that learns from mistakes and strives for a First Time Right principle.
  • Early detection, reporting, and documentation of quality errors.
  • Providing knowledge transfer on the application of quality procedures and instructions by delivering training to Grinders and Assemblers based on established training materials.
  • Continuously identifying improvement opportunities in the quality control process.
Where do you end up?

You'll be joining Sif - an internationally listed company - where we manufacture monopiles, thick-walled steel foundation tubes for offshore wind turbines and jacket constructions. Wind park development is booming, offering significant opportunities for Sif. We're growing alongside this trend, contributing to a sustainable future. We work in an informal atmosphere but always with a shared goal in mind. Keeping promises, taking responsibility, and helping each other are inherent values. Our organization is dynamic, providing opportunities for growth and independent work. Your base will be in Rotterdam. You'll collaborate within a large team comprising customer inspectors, subcontractor inspectors, certifying authorities, and suppliers. Within your own organization, you'll closely collaborate with QA/QC engineers, the Welding Bureau, Operations, and Engineering. You'll also handle the calibration and maintenance of measuring equipment, ensuring they are up to date. You'll report to the Manager QC, working in the heart of a dynamic environment and contributing to a company with growth ambitions, pride, and craftsmanship, where there's ample room to demonstrate your entrepreneurial spirit. You'll play a part in the energy transition to green power and have the opportunity to grow within our company.

Who are you?

You see yourself in our profile and are excited about the job description. You have an open attitude and aren't afraid to ask questions to ensure you have the necessary information to excel in your work. You're strong in communication and social skills, with a customer-centric approach. Moreover, you're precise in your work and can fulfill agreements. You enjoy working in a team toward a common goal, where you're a valuable addition.

What you bring;
  • A completed MBO-4 education with knowledge in a technical field, preferably mechanical engineering.
  • Extensive experience in welding and knowledge of manufacturing processes in the steel industry, quality systems, and applicable standards (ISO, ASME, API).
  • Possession of a valid Vtw-2 certificate or willingness to obtain one shortly.
  • Additionally, having NDT certificates, IWI-C, IWT, or CSWIP, or familiarity with NDO techniques is advantageous.
  • Affinity with specialized measurement techniques and knowledge of measuring instruments.
  • Occasional travel and flexibility are important aspects of this role.
  • Possession of a valid VCA-VOL certificate.
  • Willingness to work in a 3-shift system or other available schedules.
  • Proficiency in both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
What does SIF offer you?
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • One-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position.
  • 25 vacation days and 13 ADV (reduction of working hours) days.
  • Opportunities for education and training.
  • A friendly team and enjoyable working environment.
  • Room for continued growth and development.
  • Impact on the energy transition and sustainability of the Netherlands and Europe.

In this role, your expertise directly influences the quality of our monopiles. Sif is a remarkable company with strong growth ambitions. It's a place of craftsmanship, offering plenty of room to demonstrate your entrepreneurial spirit and continue your personal development.
