Nobian is seeking a Junior Mining R&D Engineer to help develop and optimise underground cavern systems for storage and energy transition, at the intersection of mining engineering and research.
You will collaborate with MDC and RD&I on backfilling, cavern use, and numerical simulations, applying AI-enabled data analysis and geomechanical modelling to deliver safe, efficient solutions.

Do you want to work at the intersection of Mining Engineering and R&D, where innovative technology, geomechanics and sustainable cavern applications come together? Nobian is developing the next generation of caverns for production, energy storage and circular use. As a Junior Mining R&D Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, modelling and optimizing these underground systems.
As a Junior Mining R&D Engineer, you collaborate closely with both Mining Development & Compliance (MDC) and Research Development & Innovation (RD&I). You contribute to projects such as backfilling, secondary cavern use, post saturation of weak brines, H2 storage, CAES, and the development of advanced numerical simulations for salt caverns.
