Job summary

CPH Chemicals in Amstelveen is seeking a Junior or Medior Trade Operations Specialist to turn traders’ deals into real shipments. You’ll be at the crossroads of trade and operations, coordinating freight, documentation, and customer updates to ensure on-time delivery and accurate invoicing.

You’ll negotiate freight rates, calculate landed costs and margins, and support trading decisions in a hands-on, growth-oriented team with a practical, no-nonsense culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level working and thinking capabilities.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is preferred.
• Interest in international trade and commodities.
• Commercial mindset with proactive, structured approach.

Responsibilities

• Execute and follow up on trades from order confirmation through to delivery and invoicing.
• Plan and coordinate shipments across containers, ISO tanks, bulk, drums.
• Be the operational right hand of the traders, keeping deals on track and customers updated.
• Negotiate freight rates and calculate landed costs and margins to support trading decisions.
• Manage trade documentation: contracts, B/Ls, customs paperwork, INCOTERMS, DG/ADR, and REACH.
• Track shipments, flag issues early, and help solve them before they become problems.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Junior or Medior Trade Operations Specialist who turns our traders’ deals into reality, getting the right product to the right customer, on time, every time. You’ll be in contact with shipping lines, suppliers, and logistics partners, finding solutions when the supply chain presents an unexpected challenge (and in this industry, it always does). Whether you’re just starting out or already have a few years of experience, you’ll take on real ownership from day one, in a small, close-knit team that has your back and helps you grow.

What you’ll do

This is an operations role at the heart of every trade, combining freight and commercial responsibilities. You sit at the crossroads of trade and operations, where the deal meets reality:

• Execute and follow up on trades from order confirmation through to delivery and invoicing.
• Plan and coordinate shipments across multiple modalities: containers, ISO tanks, bulk, drums.
• Be the operational right hand of the traders, keeping deals on track and customers updated.
• Negotiate freight rates and calculate landed costs and margins to support trading decisions.
• Manage trade documentation and ensure compliance: contracts, B/Ls, customs paperwork, INCOTERMS, DG/ADR, and REACH.
• Track shipments, flag issues early, and help solve them before they become problems.

Who we’re looking for

This role is open to both junior and medior candidates, from graduates with the right drive to professionals with a few years of trade or logistics operations behind them. What matters most is that you can manage a process from start to finish, remain calm under pressure, and make sound decisions when supply chain issues arise. We expect:

• Bachelor working and thinking level.
• Fluent in English, Dutch preferred, and an additional language is a plus.
• Anywhere from no prior experience to a few years in trade operations, commodity trading, freight forwarding, or international logistics.
• Commercial and proactive, a strong communicator who doesn’t wait to be told what to do.
• Structured and detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture.
• A genuine interest in international trade and commodities, this is where you want to build your career.
• Based in the Netherlands and authorised to work without sponsorship.
