Job summary

McDermott International, Ltd is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer in Den Haag, Netherlands to work under supervision on routine mechanical tasks. You will apply existing procedures and grow technical knowledge in mechanics and engineering principles.

You will perform drafting and analysis, support bid reviews, and ensure compliance with HSE and project standards while collaborating with engineers and designers. Fluency in English (B2) is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 0-3 years of experience in Oil and Gas.
• EIT or member of a professional engineering society preferred.
• Good English in writing and speaking (B2 level).
• Quality-oriented and schedule conscious.
• Good communication skills and team player behavior.
• Flexibility to assist colleagues and supervisors with increased workload.
• Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines applicable.
• Learning design techniques and analysis methods.

Responsibilities

• Understand the mechanical engineering duties across project stages.
• Perform detailed design engineering, analysis and calculations for basic tasks.
• Complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring.
• Prepare clear and accurate design calculations, analyses, reports and procedures.
• Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.
• Clearly communicate information and verify understanding.
• Familiarize with quality and documentation systems.
• Specify equipment types by process and project needs under lead engineer guidance.
• Apply relevant procedures, standards and codes per discipline and project requirements.
• Assist other disciplines with information as required.
• Carry out drafting activities (datasheet sketches, modification drawings, etc.).
• Support reviews of drawings, documents and inspection/test procedures by sellers and manufacturers.
• Assist Engineers and Buyers with evaluation of bids.
• Apply HSE requirements in engineering work and decisions.
