Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Platform Engineer with strong proficiency in Python and a proven track record in designing, developing, and deploying reliable software solutions. This role requires deep expertise across the full software development lifecycle—from planning and architecture to hands‑on coding, testing, and automated deployment.
You will work within a modern Azure-based environment, applying engineering best practices, DevOps principles, and Infrastructure-as-Code to build secure, scalable, and maintainable platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain platform components using Python and object‑oriented programming principles.
- Build and operate solutions on Microsoft Azure, including storage, networking, access management, and related cloud services.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for consistent, automated provisioning.
- Apply SOLID principles, design patterns, and domain-driven design (DDD) in solution architecture.
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB experience is a plus).
- Ensure adherence to Data Governance practices, including technologies such as Unity Catalog.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and support incremental software delivery.
- Write robust unit tests using pytest and mocking frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality, secure, and scalable platform solutions.
- Participate in planning, design reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8-10 years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering roles.
- Strong proficiency in Python, object‑oriented design, and software architecture.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure Cloud services (storage, networking, IAM, etc.).
- Experience with Terraform and IaC best practices.
- Solid understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and incremental development methodologies.
- Knowledge of Data Governance frameworks (Unity Catalog preferred).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases; Cosmos DB is advantageous.
- Strong grounding in SOLID principles, design patterns, and DDD.
- Familiarity with pytest, unit testing, and mocking libraries.
- Ability to work onsite in Amsterdam.
