Job summary

IQ Staffing seeks an Azure Platform Engineer for a large financial organisation in the Netherlands. The role involves designing and developing a scalable analytics platform used by more than 1,500 professionals, across an international Data & Analytics environment.

The engineer will work at the intersection of Azure Cloud, Databricks, IaC and CI/CD, designing the technical foundation for secure, scalable analytics and ML solutions at enterprise scale.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer or in a comparable position.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with Azure Databricks.
  • Experience with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) and Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable, secure and efficient platform solutions using Microsoft Azure and Azure Databricks.
  • Contribute to the architecture and further development of a large-scale analytics platform.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform code to automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments.
  • Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps.
  • Monitor platform performance and identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Apply security, scalability and reliability principles throughout the platform.

Job description

For a large financial organisation in the Netherlands, we are looking for an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to help further develop a large-scale analytics and model development platform used by more than 1,500 professionals across the organisation.

You will become part of an international Data & Analytics environment where multiple multidisciplinary teams work together to build and continuously improve a secure, scalable and user-friendly analytics platform.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of Azure Cloud, Databricks, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD. You will help design and maintain the technical foundation that enables data professionals to develop advanced analytics and machine learning solutions at scale.

The role

As an Azure Platform Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of the organisation’s analytics platform.

You will work closely with DevOps Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Architects and other technical stakeholders to translate business and platform requirements into scalable and reliable technical solutions.

The environment is highly collaborative and international, with a strong focus on automation, platform stability, security and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities
  • Design scalable, secure and efficient platform solutions using Microsoft Azure and Azure Databricks.
  • Contribute to the architecture and further development of a large-scale analytics platform.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Integrate data services and platform components across different systems.
  • Improve platform workflows, performance and resource utilisation.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform code to automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments.
  • Build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps.
  • Support the deployment and operation of cloud-based data services.
  • Monitor platform performance and identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Apply security, scalability and reliability principles throughout the platform.
  • Evaluate new Azure technologies and determine how they can improve the platform.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the overall user experience for data and analytics professionals.
Your profile

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer who enjoys working on complex cloud environments and understands what is required to operate analytics platforms at enterprise scale.

You bring:

  • At least 7 years of experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer or in a comparable position.
  • Experience working with large-scale analytics or data platforms in secure enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong experience with Azure Databricks.
  • Good understanding of data architecture and cloud-based analytics environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience designing scalable, secure and reliable cloud solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions.
  • A proactive and collaborative engineering mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
Nice to have

The following experience would be an advantage:

  • Microsoft Azure certifications or comparable cloud certifications.
  • Experience supporting machine learning or model-development environments.
  • Experience within financial services or another highly regulated organisation.
  • Experience working with large international engineering teams.
