As an Interim IT Infra Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining IT infrastructure supporting a critical LTE-M telecom network for energy grid operators. You will focus on Linux infrastructure, server environments, virtualization, networking, and security solutions to ensure reliable and secure communication for vital infrastructure.
Working in a technical and security-driven environment, you will collaborate with IT architects, project managers, suppliers, and technical specialists to translate infrastructure requirements into practical solutions, perform implementations, troubleshoot complex issues, and prepare environments for operational handover.
What will you do?
- Design and implement IT infrastructure solutions with a strong focus on security, availability, and operational reliability
- Configure, integrate, test, and maintain server environments supporting telecom and critical infrastructure systems
- Manage Linux server environments, including RHEL and Ubuntu platforms
- Configure, patch, harden, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows server environments
- Support remote access solutions, including stepping stones, jump servers, and bastion hosts
- Manage and support virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenShift
- Support infrastructure integration with Core, RAN, Element Manager, and Network Manager systems
- Configure and troubleshoot DNS, NTP, logging, monitoring, AAA, and authentication integrations
- Perform technical troubleshooting across Linux, Windows, networking, and system integrations
- Test configurations, permissions, failover mechanisms, and continuity solutions
- Apply security-by-design principles, including least privilege, access control, hardening, and audit logging
- Collaborate with architects, suppliers, and technical specialists on infrastructure dependencies and implementation decisions
- Provide input into technical designs with focus on feasibility, security, and manageability
- Document configurations, test results, technical solutions, and operational procedures
- Support technical handover towards the future management organization
What do you bring?
- 5+ years of experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, System Engineer, Linux Engineer, Windows Server Engineer, or similar role
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux environments, especially RHEL and/or Ubuntu
- Experience managing Windows Server environments is considered an advantage
- Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenShift
- Experience with server configuration, patching, hardening, and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of networking concepts including IP networking, subnetting, routing, DNS, NTP, and network segmentation
- Experience with remote access solutions, jump servers, bastion hosts, and secure access managementKnowledge of IAM, authentication, authorization, Group Policy, IPA, or similar technologies
- Experience with servers, storage, and datacenter infrastructure
- Understanding of security principles such as security-by-design, least privilege, logging, and access control
- Experience with monitoring and logging platforms is considered an advantage
- Experience within telecom, energy, utilities, or critical infrastructure environments is highly desirable
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a hands-on mindset
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with architects, engineers, and suppliers
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical topics clearly
