Job summary

ABB zoekt een IS Architect binnen Enterprise Architecture die standaarden, referentie-architecturen en governance bewaakt. U werkt nauw samen met Domain en Solution Architects en zorgt voor afstemming en herbruikbaarheid van bouwstenen.

De rol rapporteert aan de Enterprise Architecture Practice & Governance Lead, werkt hybride en heeft geen directe rapporteerlijnen. U draagt bij aan governance, risico- en naleving en versterkt de EA-praktijk door samenwerking en het toepassen van TOGAF en Ardoq.

Qualifications

• Bachelor- of Mastergraad in IT, CS of engineering.
• Minimaal 6 jaar ervaring in Enterprise/Domain/Solution Architecture of een gerelateerde architectuurdisciplines.
• Sterke kennis van EA-principles, frameworks, standaarden en governance.
• Ervaring met architectuurmethodologieën en modelleringstools (TOGAF en Ardoq).
• Kennis van architectuuranalyses en naleving/exception management.
• Ervaring in complexe, gedecentraliseerde matrix- of multi-division organisaties.
• Sterke analytische, probleemoplossende en documentatievaardigheden.
• Uitstekende stakeholder management, communicatie en faciliterende vaardigheden.

Responsibilities

• Definieer en onderhoud principes, standaarden, referentie-architecturen en bouwstenen.
• Werk samen met domeinarchitecten voor afstemming van domeinarchitecturen.
• Streef naar standaardisatie, vereenvoudiging en interoperabiliteit in het IS-landschap.
• Bied begeleiding aan domein- en oplossingsarchitecten bij toepassing van principes en governance.
• Draag bij aan governance-processen, beoordelingen en risico-/beslissingsbeheer.
• Bevorder adoptie van EA-methodologieën, frameworks, tools en governance.
• Faciliteer samenwerking, kennisdeling en betrokkenheid tussen teams.
• Blijf op de hoogte van opkomende technologieën en identificeer kansen voor verbeteringen.

Your role and responsibilities:

The IS Architect within the Enterprise Architecture team supports the development, adoption and continuous improvement of enterprise architecture standards, reference architectures, methodologies and governance practices across ABB. Working closely with Enterprise and Domain Architects, the role contributes to the definition and maintenance of architecture principles, standards and reusable architectural assets, helping ensure consistency, alignment and optimization of the IS landscape.

The role helps embed the Enterprise Architecture practice across ABB Business Areas and Divisions and supports architecture governance activities, ensuring decisions are transparent, documented and aligned with strategic objectives.

The role reports to the Enterprise Architecture Practice & Governance Lead and has no direct reports. The work model for the role is: hybrid. You will be mainly accountable for:

• Define, maintain, and continuously improve enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and reusable architecture building blocks.
• Partner with Domain Architects to ensure alignment of domain architectures with ABB's enterprise architecture vision, strategy, and target state.
• Drive standardization, simplification, interoperability, reuse, and optimization across the ABB IS landscape.
• Provide guidance and support to Domain and Solution Architects, ensuring consistent application of architecture principles, standards, and best practices.
• Contribute to architecture governance processes, reviews, compliance assessments, and the management of architecture risks, deviations, and decisions.
• Promote the adoption of enterprise architecture methodologies, frameworks, tools, and governance practices across Business Areas and Divisions.
• Facilitate collaboration, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement across enterprise, domain, solution, and business teams to strengthen architecture maturity.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, identifying opportunities to enhance enterprise architecture capabilities, practices, and governance.

Qualifications for the role:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in Enterprise, Domain, Solution Architecture, technology consulting, or a related architecture discipline.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, frameworks, standards, governance processes, and reference architectures.
• Experience with architecture methodologies and modeling tools, preferably TOGAF and Ardoq.
• Knowledge of architecture reviews, compliance assessments, and exception management processes.
• Experience working within complex, decentralized, matrix, or multi-division organizations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with a structured and proactive approach.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
