Job summary

The Landrovers Amsterdam invites an enthusiastic Industrial Design student to join the team as an intern on the electric Land Rover Defender project. You will participate in the full design process from concept to realization and work closely with engineers and technicians.

You’ll develop visual concepts, build mock-ups and renders, and learn production techniques through hands-on tasks and supervision. This is a great chance to grow in a creative, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

The Landrovers Amsterdam is looking for passionate industrial designers to support the creative team per September.

About The Landrovers

At The Landrovers, the Land Rover Defender is restored, customized and redesigned. Our Defenders are sold all over the world, and each Defender is unique. We have a diverse team with a good combination of a professional and informal atmosphere. We are driven and results-oriented, but we will certainly enjoy drinks on Fridays! The images show examples of projects that were realized partly thanks to interns.

The internship

We are currently developing an electric Land Rover Defender with a team of professionals and trainees. We are looking for support on multiple design assignments for this electric Land Rover Defender. In the images you can see a number of assignments that were designed by interns in the past. You will go through the entire process from idea to realization phase! During the internship we expect you to be able to work independently, but you will of course be intensively supervised. You become a full member of the design team. At The Landrovers we produce a lot in-house and we also have many production techniques that you can delve into, such as FDM & SLA 3D printing, CNC milling, Laser cutting, Vacuum Casting, deep drawing, setting, upholstering, welding and much more. There is also room to show your own creativity and input and you will be assigned several areas of the design process in your tasks. Making mistakes is not a bad thing, just learn from them.

We are looking for

We are looking for an all-round designer who is both technically and visually oriented. We are looking for someone who is curious about all aspects of design and who can get stuck into a design. We believe that with the right attitude you can teach yourself everything you need to function well within the team. The following qualities are important:

• You can make ideas visual by means of: sketch.
• Developing concepts on both a technical level and the look & feel.
• You are not afraid to stick your hands out of your pockets and you feel comfortable creating mock-ups and prototypes.
• You have knowledge of the different production techniques to realize a design.
• You have knowledge and feeling for ergonomics for the optimal user experience.
• You have an excellent level in CAD and you can present your design using… high quality renders.
• Some experience in programs such as Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator is an advantage
