VANMOKUM zoekt een stagiair Industrieel Productontwerp om het productontwikkelingsteam te ondersteunen. Je werkt 5 maanden, van februari 2027 tot eind juni 2027, op locaties in Amsterdam-Noord en Almere, en krijgt begeleiding bij praktische ontwerpprojecten.

Je werkt aan ontwerp, engineering en productie, met sketch tot productie en 3D CAD-modellering. Je draagt bij aan prototyping, communicatie met leveranciers en af en toe reizen naar beurzen.

Qualifications

• Engels beherrschen in woord en schrift.
• HBO-opleiding in ontwerp of vergelijkbaar.
• Kennis van Solidworks en Rhino.
• Ervaring met Adobe InDesign, Illustrator en Photoshop is een plus.
• Ervaring met 3D-printing en prototyping.
• Hands-on mentaliteit en precisie.

Internship: Industrial Product Design February 2027 - June 2027

Internship • Amsterdam/Almere

VANMOKUM is on the lookout for the best industrial design student to support its product development team.

You'll be working as an all-round intern for a period of 5 months, starting from Februari 2027 until the end of June 2027 (other periods can be discussed).

Here you'll be part of our product development team and involved in everything that has to do with product design. Your opinion and input is much appreciated and an experience like this will serve as an excellent foundation for your future as a product designer.

This internship concerns a regular internship, not a graduation internship...sorry!

Period: beginning of February 2027 until the end of June 2027. (other periods can be discussed)

So, what exactly will you do?

You will have the opportunity to work on developing products of famous designers like Piet Hein Eek and Graypants and therefore contribute a little bit to the design history.

The focus is on product design and engineering. Your job is to get products ready from sketch to production, which means that at the end of your internship you've learned 'the practical side' of things. You will work on sketching, drawing up 3D cad models, testing prototypes, making 3D prints and assemble products. Besides this, you will be managing your own projects and communicate with (new and existing) suppliers.

Now and then, you might get invited to join us on a trip (abroad) to build up a stand at a fair to see how our products are actually presented to the market. A great reward for every designer to see their products being enjoyed by design lovers.

Sounds like a real job doesn't it? Don't worry, there is room to make mistakes. At the end of the day this is the only way to learn! During this period, we are right beside you for good guidance (oh, and let's not forget a nice financial compensation..).

Okay, and who are you?

We're looking for someone that is dedicated to their projects, is a fast learner and likes to take initiative. Do you describe yourself as ambitious, motivated, adaptable and independent but also a great team-player? Yep, then we're looking for you. A passion for design and technology speaks for itself, but you also need a high tolerance of stress and your sense of detail and overview must be in balance (just as your creativity and engineering skills). Therefore, you like to work in details and are very precise -or- willing to push yourself to become a real perfectionist.

What would we need from you?

• You study Industrial Product Design (or similar)
• You'll be working with Solidworks and Rhino, so you should get yourself acquainted with it (even better - you're already efficient in it).
• You know how to work with Adobe Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
• You have some experience with 3D printing and prototyping
• You like to work with your hands, like putting up some light fixtures to see if they fit the space -or- to assemble some products in our workshop.
• Knowledge of Arduino/Electronics would be a much appreciated bonus
• Your English should be good both in verbal and written communication. Any other language you speak is, again, a nice extra!

Our own brands are Graypants, Frama and Piet Hein Eek lighting. Every brand represents a different style and has their own story - one that you'll be representing. Besides producing our own labels, we're also distributor for several other lighting brands. This means our team covers inside and outside sales, PR and the full distribution. We sell to high-end design and interior stores, museum stores, department stores and several project customers like hotels, clubs and restaurants.

To conclude: You'll be working for not one, but several amazing brands! We collaborate with renowned designers from all over the world to create unique products. For every project we have the ambition to create a design classic.
