Job summary

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) – Operational Centre Amsterdam is seeking a Medical Director based in Amsterdam or London to lead medical strategy and ensure high‑quality, person‑centred care in crisis settings.

You will oversee medical programming, ethics, risk management and collaboration across departments, while representing MSF externally and guiding a global medical leadership network.

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor with post-graduate training in public health.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Strong communication skills in a complex organization.
• 12+ years of experience in medical, humanitarian programming and senior management.
• Broad knowledge of humanitarian medicine, health programming and research.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the medical strategy and medical quality agenda for MSF OCA.
• Oversee medical leadership across departments and ensure safe, dignified person-centred care.
• Collaborate with Operations to allocate resources for diverse crises and ensure programme integrity.
• Represent MSF OCA externally and participate in international medical leadership platforms.
• Ensure safeguarding, ethics, and responsible use of information in medical programmes.
