Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal in Amsterdam is offering a 3–6 month internship within our Financial Services Industry (FSI) team, delivering high-impact work for C-level clients and collaborating with international colleagues. You will gain hands-on experience through analysis, modelling, market research and workshops, while helping grow the FSI practice across Europe under senior leadership guidance.

• Currently enrolled in a Masters program or graduated with a background in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
• Previous experience in analytical field is essential, preferably in financial services, strategy consulting, private equity, M&A, tech, or startups.
• Fluency in Dutch and English (written and spoken) is essential.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on projects embedded in client-facing teams: prepare analysis and modelling, develop client deliverables, participate in workshops.
• Support commercial activities: structure and carry out research and market analysis and prepare pitches to win new work 'points of view' documents.
• Work closely with leadership to support the growth of the FSI practice across Europe.

The Team

A&M’s Financial Services Industry (FSI) team focuses on delivering impactful solutions to Banks, Insurers, Asset Managers, FinTechs, and Private Equity firms. The team specializes in areas such as actionable strategy, performance transformation (revenue and cost), risk and regulation, M&A, and portfolio advisory.

As part of a small, growing and entrepreneurial team in Amsterdam, this role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects for C-level clients, collaborate with international colleagues, and contribute to the development of the FSI practice across Europe.

How you will contribute

As an intern you will be an integral part of the team for 3-6 months, gaining hands-on experience by:

• Collaborating in projects and being embedded in client-facing teams: preparing analysis and modelling, develop client deliverables, participating in workshops, etc.
• Supporting commercial activities: structure and carry out essential research and market analysis and prepare pitches to win new work “points of view” documents,
• Working closely with our leadership to support the growth of the FSI practice

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Masters programe or already graduated with preferably a background in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field
• Previous experience in analytical field is essential, preferably in financial services (banks, insurance, fintech, etc.), strategy consulting, private equity, venture capital, M&A, tech, or startups
• (Basic) understanding of business concepts
• Fluency in Dutch and English (written and spoken) is essential
• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and AI toolkit for research, data analysis and presentations
