Job summary

The British School of Amsterdam invites applications for a Junior School Class Teacher (0.4FTE) to cover a maternity leave. The role is part‑time, three days? Actually two days weekly on Monday and Tuesday.

You will plan, teach and assess a broad, engaging curriculum for a designated class, and provide pastoral care in a supportive international setting. Ideal candidates hold QTS/equivalent, with experience of the English National Curriculum, EAL and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent.
• Minimum three years' experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England.
• Experience with English language learners or EAL teaching strategies.
• Experience of teaching children with additional needs within a mainstream classroom.
• Experience of using a range of assessment tools to drive pupil progress.
• Experience of leading a curriculum subject or an aspect of curriculum development.
• Experience working in an international school (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Plan, teach and review high‑quality lessons, inspiring every child to love learning and make progress.
• Take responsibility for pastoral care, wellbeing and safeguarding in line with policy.
• Develop strong relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to deliver high quality support for all pupils.
• Plan and review schemes of learning with Year Group to ensure consistency.
• Support and participate in school life, assemblies, visits and extracurriculars.
