Job summary

The British School of Amsterdam is seeking a Junior School Class Teacher on a maternity cover basis. The role is full time, five days per week, with a start around November 2026 and a commitment through July 2027.

We require a fully qualified teacher with QTS, experience of the English National Curriculum, and strong commitment to safeguarding and pastoral care. The successful candidate will work within a supportive international school community and contribute to a high-quality, inclusive

Qualifications

Fully qualified teacher with QTS or equivalent.
Minimum three years’ experience teaching the National Curriculum for England.
Experience with EAL and learners with additional needs in mainstream classrooms.
Experience using a range of assessment tools to drive pupil progress.
Experience leading a curriculum subject or development initiative.
Experience in an international school is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Plan, teach and review high-quality lessons, inspiring every child to love learning and make progress.
Provide pastoral care, safeguarding and well-being for all pupils.
Develop strong relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
Collaborate to plan and review year-group schemes of learning.
Support and guide Teaching Assistants to deliver high-quality classroom support.
Create a safe, organized classroom environment and promote independence.
