Job description

Are you curious, people-focused, and interested in making technical systems clearer and more reliable? At Intralox, one of the world’s leading innovators in conveyance solutions, we are looking for a bachelor’s or master’s student to join our Integration Smart Carryway™ (ISC) team. You will work on one of two assignments focused on clear equipment communication or sustainable software-quality improvement.

Why this internship matters

Our ISC team brings together machinery, automation, controls, software, and practical user needs. Clear visual communication helps people understand equipment quickly, while sustainable quality practices help development teams create reliable software with confidence. We work collaboratively and value curiosity, ownership, practical thinking, and continuous improvement.

Depending on your interests, experience, and study requirements, you will focus on one of the assignments below. Your work may combine research, stakeholder interviews, design, process improvement, and practical recommendations. You will receive guidance from experienced colleagues while having the freedom to shape and own your project.

Choose one of these assignments
  • Visual communication and equipment-status design

Do you enjoy designing visual communication that helps people understand systems quickly and clearly? You will work on the visual and physical elements that allow users to read equipment status at a glance. Your focus will include improving stack lights and indicators, standardizing ISC LED communication, and contributing to a clearer, more consistent, and recognizable interface design.

  • Sustainable software-quality practices and developer adoption

How do you help a development team genuinely embrace quality practices without top-down mandates or disruptive change programs? You will investigate the human and organizational side of quality improvement. Your focus will include how testing practices, developer ownership of quality, and gradual process change can be introduced in ways that teams genuinely adopt. Your findings and recommendations will complement the technical automated-testing work within the ISC team.

What You’ll Do
  • Turn a broad improvement opportunity into a clear project plan, research approach, and achievable deliverables.
  • Investigate user needs, communication standards, team behaviors, or development practices to identify realistic improvements.
  • Gather input from technical and business stakeholders so your proposed solution reflects real needs and constraints.
  • Create and evaluate a design proposal, communication standard, adoption approach, or set of practical recommendations.
  • Present clear findings and next steps that the ISC team can apply after your internship.
What You Bring
  • You are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as IT, software engineering, industrial or interaction design, human-technology interaction, change management, business technology, automation, or engineering.
  • You are interested in industrial technology and motivated to improve how systems communicate or how teams approach software quality.
  • You can conduct structured research, work independently, and ask for guidance when needed.
  • You communicate clearly in English and are comfortable collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • You are available for an internship or graduation project of approximately six months and can work from the office two to three days per week.
Nice-to-haves
  • Interest or experience in visual communication, industrial interfaces, LED indicators, user research, software quality, or development processes.
  • Curiosity about stakeholder behavior, developer ownership, change adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to translate research findings into clear, practical, and user-focused recommendations.
If you don’t meet every requirement but is excited about the role, we still encourage you to apply.
Practical details
  • Duration: Approximately six months.
  • Location: Hoofddorp, with an expected office presence of two to three days per week.
