Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking an In-Situ Service Coordinator Central Europe. Based from Schiedam or other CE regions, you will coordinate on-site service activities, plan engineers and subcontractors, and act as the main contact for customers and stakeholders.

You will also support project prep, logistics, spare parts delivery, and KPI monitoring to ensure safe, timely execution. Strong English, organisational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • A vocational qualification, technical degree or equivalent in-situ environment.
  • Experience in service coordination, project coordination or similar role an advantage.
  • Good English language skills, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate international in-situ service assignments from request to closure.
  • Plan and allocate field service engineers, specialists and subcontractors.
  • Serve as primary contact for customers, shipowners and stakeholders.
  • Support project prep, scheduling, documentation and logistics.
  • Coordinate availability and delivery of spare parts, tools and materials.
  • Monitor progress and ensure effective communication among teams.
  • Create purchase orders and follow deliveries for timely execution.
  • Support KPI tracking and risk resolution for smooth projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Wärtsilä safety requirements and ISO processes.

The In-Situ Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, preparing, planning, leading and supporting the execution of in-situ service activities; on-site machining and repair activities for complex and specialized components, with a primary focus on the maritime industry.

The role acts as the key liaison between customers, service engineers, workshops, suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality project execution.

As an In-Situ Service Coordinator Central Europe, you will be part of our Service Unit Central Europe. The role is to based from one of the following Central Europe regions:

  • Hamburg, Germany
  • Schiedam, Netherlands
  • Glasgow, Aberdeen or Fareham, United Kingdom
  • Gdansk, Poland
What you will do:
  • Coordinate international in-situ service assignments from customer request through execution and project closure.
  • Plan and allocate field service engineers, specialists and subcontractors according to project requirements and resource availability.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers, ship owners, shipyards, agents and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of service projects, including scheduling, documentation and logistics arrangements.
  • Coordinate the availability and delivery of spare parts, tools, measuring equipment and materials for global service activities.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure effective communication between customers, field service teams, workshops and administration.
  • Create purchase orders and follow up on deliveries to ensure timely project execution.
  • Support project performance monitoring, including KPIs such as utilisation, work in progress, lead times and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in identifying risks, resolving operational issues and ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Wärtsilä safety requirements, quality standards and applicable ISO processes.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would have:
  • A vocational qualification, technical degree or equivalent experience within an in-situ technical, industrial or maritime environment.
  • Experience in service coordination, technical support, project coordination or a similar role is considered an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance, repair or field service activities within a technical environment.
  • Ability to understand technical scopes and convert customer requirements into practical service planning.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented way of working.
  • Good English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP, CRM or service management systems.
