Job summary

Huisman in Schiedam is seeking a Systems Engineer to ensure our products function as an integrated whole, aligning mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control systems for cranes, pile grippers, and cable-lay systems.

You bring a master’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, 8+ years in offshore or heavy steel construction, and strong multidisciplinary systems thinking to bridge disciplines across projects. This role offers international exposure and a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience as a Systems Engineer in offshore, maritime, or heavy steel construction sectors.
• Expertise in one of mechanical engineering, electronics or control systems, with broad interdisciplinary understanding.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to shift between detailed work and the bigger picture.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer system architectures, preparing engineering deliverables and documenting technical decisions.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration; define internal and external interfaces and prioritize solutions.
• Validate designs against standards and client requirements; ensure system meets intended performance.
• Contribute to knowledge management and quality improvements.
