Job summary

WLG in The Hague seeks an experienced ICT technician for on-site support, installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware and software across end-user systems. You will ensure continuous operation by testing changes and recording current configurations.

Responsibilities include monitoring system loads, tuning performance, performing network maintenance, and resolving second-line tickets. On-call duties and on-site engineering change support are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Implementing and maintaining ICT end systems inside a large organisation.
• Configure hardware and software independently.
• Troubleshoot under pressure with users waiting for resolution.
• Network fundamentals: TCP/IP, VPN, VLAN, DNS, firewall.
• Log analysis and packet capture experience.
• Scripting or development basics.
• ITIL training and professional English.

Job description

Two seats, same job: be the person who actually fixes it. A multinational defence service line in The Hague keeps its own systems, networks and end-user equipment running around the clock. You would be part of that team on site - installing, configuring, diagnosing and, when your week on the rota comes round, answering immediately.

What You Would Be Doing

• Installing, configuring and removing hardware and software, testing what you have done and recording what now exists
• Watching operational systems for load and failure, tuning them, and taking new versions of system software through test into service
• Carrying out network maintenance and configuration work, and diagnosing faults with a proper method and proper tools
• Taking second-line tickets to resolution against agreed response targets, including your share of the immediate on-call rota
• Helping with the design, test and on-site support of engineering changes to the service, on top of day-to-day operations

What you would bring

• Several years of implementing and maintaining ICT end systems inside a large organisation
• Confidence configuring hardware and software, and the independence to solve a problem alone
• Troubleshooting under pressure with users waiting, and the patience that goes with it
• Useful extras: networking (TCP/IP, VPN, VLAN, firewall, DNS), server hosting and storage configuration, log analysis, packet capture, some scripting or development
• ITIL training, and professional English
