Job summary

The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) invites applications for a Secondary Special Education Teacher. You will support autistic adolescents to participate, learn, and develop within an inclusive, IB-informed secondary school community.

You will work with teachers, wellbeing team, parents, and external professionals to create structured, accessible learning environments and to strengthen autism-inclusive practice across our school.

Qualifications

• Requires secondary teaching qualification in the Netherlands with special education specialization or substantial experience.
• Experience teaching and supporting secondary-aged autistic students.
• Strong knowledge of autism-informed educational practice and how it affects communication, executive functioning, sensory processing and learning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons and reduce barriers to participation.
• Support autistic students to navigate the academic, social, and emotional demands of secondary school.
• Collaborate with subject teachers, wellbeing team, and external professionals to develop autism-inclusive classroom practice.
