Job summary

Helpware Inc. is seeking a Junior/Middle Java Developer to join our engineering team in Amsterdam. You will design, implement, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot, contributing to microservices and distributed systems in a production environment.

You will collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Product Owner, and peers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions. The role offers a hybrid office model and an initial 6+ month contract with ASAP start.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of relevant software development experience.
• Solid foundation in Java and Spring Boot.
• Understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services with Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain microservices and distributed systems.
• Develop and support customer-facing applications.
• Write clean, readable, maintainable code following best practices.
• Apply design principles such as SOLID and DRY.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Contribute to deployment, monitoring, and production support.
