Job summary

The Hague Helsinki Committee (NHC) is seeking a Human Rights and Communications Intern in The Hague to support external communications for key projects. You will assist the Programme Officers, help craft newsletters, social media content, and reports, and contribute to designing communication outputs.

The internship runs 4–6 months, with a 24–32 hour workweek and a small stipend. Start mid-September is preferred; non-EU candidates require a valid permit.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor or Master degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related degree.
  • Excellent writing skills (creative and academic).
  • Canva proficiency; WordPress and InDesign are assets.
  • Excellent English; knowledge of another Catalyst country language is a plus.
  • Experience interviewing is an asset.
  • Affinity with civil society work and human rights trends is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Programme Officers in managing external communication activities (Catalyst of Change project & Rule of Law Training).
  • Map activities of project partners and create communication outputs.
  • Conduct interviews and write up success stories from the training.
  • Maintain website texts with input from Communications Manager and staff.
  • Support development of communications strategy and content plan.
  • Help develop external networks and liaise with partners as needed.
