Job summary

The British School of Amsterdam is seeking a hands-on HR Advisor to join our HR team. The role covers payroll coordination, HR administration, recruitment and onboarding, and policy development in a supportive school environment.

You will be the first point of contact for staff, ensure compliance with Dutch labour laws, maintain HRIS systems and collaborate across teams. Fluency in English and Dutch and a Netherlands work authorisation are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Masters degree in HRM, Economics, Psychology (or similar).
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience in the Netherlands.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for all staff in the school.
  • Deliver HR advice to all staff.
  • Payroll: collect & enter mutations and prepare monthly payroll (external provider).
  • HR administration: maintain employee records.
  • Onboarding & offboarding of staff.
  • Create, update and maintain policies & procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and school policies.
  • HRIS: update systems and roll out new HR system.
  • Recruitment of staff.

Are you passionate about HR, have some years of experience and are you looking to work in a purposeful environment? We have an exciting job opportunity for a hands-on HR Advisor to join our HR team!

We are a relatively new team where people always come first. We are dedicated to create a great people experience and believe that we can only achieve this by working together. As we are relatively new, you get a lot of opportunities to create, change and make it yours.

Your responsibilities will include (but won't be limited to):

  • Be the first point of contact for all the staff in the school.
  • Deliver HR advice to all staff
  • Payroll: Collecting and entering payroll mutations & prepare the monthly payroll (we have an external payroll provider)
  • HR Administration: ensure accurate and up to date employee records
  • Employee onboarding & offboarding
  • Create, update and maintain policies & procedures
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and school policies
  • HRIS: update systems, support staff in the roll out of upcoming new HR system
  • Recruitment of staff

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor/Masters degree in Human Resource Management, Economics, Psychology (or similar)
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience in The Netherlands

  • Basic knowledge of Dutch labour law (Netherlands)
